Not so much by the weather but as a result of two recent incidents of what appears to be wilful fire raising, this is pretty much all that is left of Paton's Mill.
The Old Mill section of the huge factory dates back to 1782 and was thought to be the first machine factory in the world and responsible for providing much of the west of Scotland with shoe laces. Now it's a pile of rubble.
The local press have come up with all sorts of dodgy stories as to the reasons for its demise. Given the west is notoriously wet, there's no way it can have been an accident. Twice.
