Giant Poppy

I agree with 'Rachelsmom' that we need something to look and make us feel cheerful on a wet and miserable day, and we have certainly had one of those today!
I ventured to the top of the garden where these 'electric orange' poppies grow to see if any of them remained photogenic and I thought this wasn't too bad despite the heavy rain. They do make all the gardens around look as though it is still summer and it's good to see there are still lots of buds to open.

We have had this poppy plant at least 27 years and it never fails. I have tried to grow the rather more ethereal coloured Papaver varieties but they never survived, so it's good to just enjoy what you have got!
