Thistle Down

By Ethel

When

In the glowing embers of our lives,
We turn to friendship's fleeting hours.
And cast our distance well beyond,
The goal of tall and lofty towers.

We separate what we love best,
And take the little bits of mirth.
To scatter on another's path,
That he might know an added worth.

What once we treasured in our cup,
With contents...not so sure.
The hankerings of our eager youth,
Slips slowly past the door.

Real value looms within our life,
With strength of steel...to hold.
And lifts true character aloft,
On bands of filtered gold.

Visions of our days...gone by,
Returns to us again.
And makes our hearts rejoice anew,
As we remember...When...
