I went to do some bird of prey monitoring but quickly gave up when the rain started and the wind picked up. Raptors tend to avoid flying in such conditions anyway, so I probably wouldn't have seen anything. That's my excuse.

Not the best conditions for photography either. This little wooden bridge has an interesting warp, not sure if you can see that in the picture.

I did see an Orkney vole though. Shetland has its own ponies and sheepdogs...Orkney has its own vole! and I found shelter below the cliffs to have my coffee and a donut, so not a total loss.
