Muscle Monday
Whew! What a day - my office got moved upstairs today. I also got a new computer installed in my new office that is a thousand times better than my old one (dual screens too!). Best thing about the new office? The view is awesome.
Even with all the hullabaloo of the day, I managed to get in and take some histology photos. I can't get high enough resolution images for the high-magnification shots with Aperio so I've been trying to figure something else out. I'm using a very old Nikon point and shoot camera with a microscope adapter. It's difficult to get the settings right so it will take a clear enough photo with the right color balance, etc. However, it will at least take them at high enough resolution for print. I got a couple of decent photos though. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to figure things out and get some better ones. I've got to, and soon.
This is a photomicrograph of skeletal muscle tissue that shows cells in cross-section and longitudinal-section. There are also a few adipocytes (fat cells) scattered throughout. They are the "empty" looking cells. There is also part of a blood vessel near the center of the photo. Overall, it's nothing special, but it was the best thing I have from today. Hoping for better tomorrow!
