Park Avenue Willows

I have always loved these weeping willows, especially when the wind is blowing, as the long branches sway backwards and forwards. Of the deciduous trees they are the last to lose their leaves, and when spring arrrives they are the first to show green buds again.
Today was a very strong cold southerly wind, and it was bitter. These willows are purported to be from the Island of St Helena, where Napoleon Bonaparte was kept prisoner. Some of the willows have been removed as they had a disease. I only hope that they do not remove the rest, as for me they are a part of Christchurch and the River Avon.
