Christchurch Cathedral, New Zealand

This Anglican cathedral is located in the Cathedral Square, centre of the city of Christchurch.

It was built in the second half of the 19th century and was designed by a British architect and supervised by a New Zealand architect. The initial plans were for a wooden construction but were changed with the discovery of a source of masonary stone locally. The roof supports were used from Banks Peninsula totora and matai timbers.

The spire reaches 63 meters above Catheral Square.  Public access to the spire provides a good view over the centre of the city.

It is not the best shot but is my first evening shot, there is room for improvement.

It just made it into blip for today being taken at 11.55pm after an evening out with my cousin and her husband who are from the North Island.  We had a lovely meal out with lots of chatter and laughter.
