Gone Fishing

Despite the gloomy day we were determined to enjoy our jaunt up to the Grouse and Claret at Heatheryford near Kinross to meet up with our friends from Perth and catch up on their news.
It's our favourite watering hole for meeting them, tucked away as it is in a copse of trees west of the motorway and with fishing lochs on its doorstep.
It was busy today with birthday lunches, and the babble in the dining room made for difficulty in hearing the gossip...... from our table I hasten to add.

But we heard their tales, marveled at J's success in the recent London Marathon, the family forthcoming wedding, the golf and the man-cooking, while they heard about the move, more move and even more move and the lack of man-cooking.

All in all it was a delightful way to spend a rainy Sunday and His Lordship and I always return home happy that we have such pleasant, interesting and lively friends.
And, I have to say, despite the number of diners, the food was delicious and promptly served.

We often wonder how many Meadows Festivals have 2 successive dry days for the occasion. Yesterday seemed an exception to what seems like the usual wet scenario. With sun and warmth it was a pleasure to stroll around taking time to wonder at the stalls.
Today reverted to type, although as we passed by on the way home, it seemed busy enough with umbrellas and awnings to the fore.

As I was posting this blip Magpie came calling to collect a jar of jam left for her by EcoDad. It has been lingering in the castle for a few weeks now and always in danger of being eaten by an unwary member of the family. Thank goodness I can relax my vigil over it at last.

PS This is better in Big
