Bronze Fennel Buds
A very gloomy wet day. This was one of the few bright spots.
The waxeyes were in the garden all day. There was constant activity and it is impossible to count them. I'm sure there are more than fifteen. Although tiny birds their numbers allow them to bully away the sparrows, dunnocks, blackbirds, and the even smaller grey warbler. The only time they vanished was when the huge male magpie came down from his tall tree and stole their bread.
