Brits on the Beach

Today me and a some friends went, you guessed it, to the beach. Nothing too exciting, just to Christchurch and it took forever to get even there. But it was a great day.
Don't you think Brits on the beach have this weird mixture of optimism and pessimism? We always say oh dear, oh no, it's going to be too busy, too hot, too cold, maybe it will rain, we'll probably get stuck in traffic... But then when its cold and the sun disappears (like it did today) we still persist in sitting it out in our bikinis and sunglasses. Or is this just me?!
