A Foggy, Soggy Hike
Today's Friday hike was at Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County. The weather prediction was for occasional drizzle, but we didn't think it would be as wet, rainy, and foggy as it turned out to be. We got very wet as we hadn't really dressed for rain, and the paths we took (Mt Wittenberg area) were lined with tall wet grass that soaked our clothing from shoulder to toe, while the rain came down on our heads. However, it wasn't very cold, so we could enjoy the experience and appreciate the beauty in the scenery, the subtle colors, the many droplets on the foliage, and the occasional vivid colors of the flowers when the weather cleared just a bit. We hiked eight or nine miles, ate lunch in the rain, and were happy to get back to the car when we finished. The weather was clearing as we finished the hike, and the rest of the day was beautiful.
We enjoyed a wonderful cup of coffee during a stop in the town of Fairfax on the way home. I had been dreaming of that wonderful substance and looking forward to it for the last half of the hike. It was warm, refreshing and delicious.
