Sarehole Mill - Maudsley Engine

The Engine House at Sarehole Mill, Hall Green was added to the mill in 1850s as an alternative source of power and to overcome the problem of the mill's dependency on water at times of drought.

Sarehole Mill was part of the inspiration for J R R Tolkein's Hobbiton in Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
