A late winter Northerly pounds across the Cape

According to the SA Weather Service at 14:00, the temperature at Cape Point - about 30km away to the right of this picture - was 15.9C and the wind blowing from the North at 72 km/h (38 knots).

The Beaufort Wind Scale for this wind speed denotes it as a gale with "moderately high waves, crests begin to break into spindrift."

Yup. That looks to be about spot on. They don't look it, but those waves are about 2m high and would be much bigger if the wind wasn't blowing so hard.

It's grey, chilly and highly conducive to watching the opening ceremony and first game of the inaugural World T20 Cricket competition on the TV, chomping some fine biltong and a couple of cold ones. All of which I plan to do as soon as this Blip is on line ;-)
