Long Meg
Long Meg is a red sandstone monolith found beside the Maughanby Circle, a Bronze Age stone circle that survives near Penrith, Cumbria, though it is thought to be Neolithic. This would make her older than the circle and not related to her "daughters".
The stone is decorated with examples of megalithic art - a spiral, circles, a cup and a ring.
Although I took the photograph in colour, I feel it is more evocative as a grayscale image.
Taken with a Pentax ME and a Tokina 20-35mm/f3.5 lens using Agfa HDC 200. Scan by Kodak.
