A Knight to Remember

This fine fellow guards one of the windows at Borthwick Castle - and it's definitely worth defending - what an impressive place.

Of course, like any castle or stately home in this neck of the woods, stories of Mary Queen of Scots and Cromwell loom large. But also of interest is that during WWII, the National Library of Scotland Archives were stored in its huge cellars for safe-keeping.

Bizarrely, for such a stunning and authentic place, it has been downgraded by Visit Scotland as a hotel because it doesn't have TVs or internet access in the rooms!! How ridiculous - you get the chance to sleep in a place that is the real deal, in the room where Mary Queen of Scots lived, and you'd complain cos' there's no telly?? Good grief...

Worth a visit if you get the chance - and it's an ace place for a party!
