Field trip to Alki Beach

I signed for extra payola to drive a field trip to Alki Beach today---such a hard thing to do ha ha. One of my good pals also drove so that made it really cool...I had my camera and after we parked along the rocky part of the beach I walked to Spuds and picked us up some fish and chips--a must if one goes to Alki!! Here's some info now on the place for those who read on....Chief Seattle of the Duwamish tribe greeted the first "white" settlers (I always love that) here in 1851. At one time it was proposed to name the entire city Duwamish but Seattle was chosen. Alki meant little New York. The now infamous Alki Beach bathhouse was first built in 1911 and the first of it's kind. Back in 1902 Alki Beach was so popular it was the destination of a new electric street railway line from Seattle. Alki Beach was also once home to an elaborate amusement park--Luna Park after i's NY namesake Coney Island. Completed in 1907 there were several heated saltwater pools. Now Alki Beach remains famous for saltwater tide pools and beach combing, striking sunsets with the Olympic Mt. range as a backdrop or the skyline of Seattle, and last but not least---eating fish and chips from Spuds!!! Just coincidentally Spuds was the very first restaurant we did eat at in Seattle back after our move here in 1975!
