Day 5 - Spokane to Missoula
Fun evening had last night in Spokane. Walked to the downtown area (the receptionist of the hotel looked at us as if we were mad - why would you walk??!?). First Friday of the month meant all the art galleries were open late, the roads were closed, live music etc. It was a great atmosphere and the city is obviously up and coming. Mrs DP bought a bracelet from one artist - the latter was fascinated (as most people are) as to how we ended up in Spokane on holiday! Dinner in the Steam Plant Grill - the waiter was born just outside London and his dad played for QPR - small world.
This morning spent walking along the riverfront in Spokane. It really was a nice place to visit, surprising us both given that it was originally just a 'pit-stop'.
Then a 200 mile drive to Missoula in Montana, through amazing 'big sky' scenery. The photo doesn't really do it justice as it was taken on a quick stop at Couer d'Alene lake in Idaho.
Tonight we're staying in Gibson's Mansion - a stunning B&B in a restored old house. Two nights here, so we can explore the surrounding countryside a bit more tomorrow.
