Small Town Boy Idol

I'm not ashamed to say I adore American Idol. And coming from someone who watches almost NO TV, this is a big deal. Here's why:

I want everyone to win and the top ten are all winners with potential for big careers.

I love the emotional aspect of getting to know the contestants, from the initial tryouts all the way through to the finals.

The judges influence but America votes.

I have nothing else to do on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (not true, but I needed at least four reasons).

Lee DeWyze won over Crystal Bowersox tonight and what I like most about that is he did not expect to win. Crystal thought she had it in the bag and that's what made me shout, "YES!" when Ryan Seacrest announced Lee as the winner. I would have been satisfied if Crystal won but I would not have shouted. I always root for the underdog and both of these two were underdogs. Lee was just a bit more 'under' than Crystal, as far as confidence goes.

What the heck am I to do with myself next Tuesday evening? ...withdrawals.

Sidenote: Did I mention that Lee is from the Chicago suburbs? That totally rocks. My gosh I sound like a teenager.
