Beaming Away

The Upper Ground Floor is now taking shape.

The ground beam is being cast in three sections.

The huge chunk of concrete on the left is the back edge of the beam.

Today the groundworkers removed the shuttering and then set about assembling the reinforcement cage for the right-hand arm of the beam

The left-hand cage has already been done and they will both be cast later this week.

This U shaped beam will support the beam and block floor of the living area as it stretches over the bedrooms below as well as the structural steel frame, the external walls and the zinc roof.
