Break for the Borders
I went down to the Scottish borders for a "bogie" event - a bogie is a wee handmade cart that you race downhill - in Denholm run by a friend of mine (Border Bogie Challenge). I was supposed to help out but spent the day taking pictures of bogies, of all shapes and sizes, some of which were incredibly sophisticated, reaching speeds of 45mph. It is no surprise to me, having seen some of the homemade engineering by people of all ages, that Brits are at the centre of Formula 1 racing.
If anyone's interested there's another event in the Catterline in the near future, and then one in the Cairngorms in a month or two... Great fun, but I can't deny the weather (temps of around 80F) did help quite a lot.
Anyway, I did take lots of pix of bogies taking off and running at speed, slowing, stopped, sitting doing nothing, but but but... in the end my favourite pic of the day was this one, of kids playing about in the field next to the start line. Often the way, isn't it?
