Day 3 - Seattle

Seafood dinner last night at Anthony's Bell Street Diner on the waterfront - fish pie for moi and seafood pasta for Mrs DP. We had to have seafood at least one night here.

Brekkie at Lowell's restaurant in Pike Place Market (hmmm - it sounds like all we do here is eat!!!), then a walk around the market itself - a fascinating mix of fruit, fish and flower stalls, well patronised by both locals and visitors. Also included the first ever Starbucks coffee shop which was interesting in a 1st-shop-before-global-domination kind of way - they're everywhere here.

I thought it would be a hideous tourist trip (a la Fisherman's Wharf) but instead it was a warm, friendly place to meander around, with stall-holders offering samples of delicious fruit, the size of which we had not seen before (everything is bigger here!). We came away with two donut peaches and two fresh Washington State apples (concious that our fruit intake will take a battering during this holiday!!).

Space Needle this afternoon.
