The Quiet Plodder

I take delight is seeing what appears to be the ordinary things of our World. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the grand and dramatic, like a stirring landscape or the delicacy of portrait. However, it is in the simple, the mundane that I find captivating. Photography is like having a third eye but with this eye you 'freeze' a moment in time - in effect allowing you to be a time traveller I suppose?

In this photo, taken at Seddon, a western suburb of Melbourne, I noticed the Parking Sign, mashed up a bit - perhaps an irate Motorist took out his or her frustration at being 'booked' by a Parking Inspector for overstaying their alloted time. Near the Parking Sign is a wooden fence, just an ordinary wooden fence. Behind the fence is a window on a brick building with a light behind the curtains. It made me wonder, what lives are being lived there, what stories could they tell of their journey?

The interest for me is the juxtaposition of the Parking Sign, the fence, the window and curtains behind the fence, the light behind the curtains and the brick building. A very ordinary scene of course, though in life nothing is ordinary.
