A Pleasant Surprise

I have chives in the garden. I planted them 3 or 4 years ago, not realizing they were going to be perrenial. Each spring the chives are the first thing to spring to life in the garden. And then come these beautiful pink flowers, which surprise me every year. They don't appear to be the kind of thing that would spring from chives. Also, you can eat them (at least I do on occassion). They are beautiful on top of a salad. Chives... who knew?
