Ruhrgebiet aka The Pott

This image shows the Rhein-Herne Kanal and a city (not sure which one, perhaps Gelsenkirchen) in Germany's former number one steel and coal area, the Ruhrgebiet.
Today, almost all mines and steel mills are closed, and the pollution was drastically reduced. Still, it looks like the ship is steering into a dark region.
