Here is what I would rather be reading...

I have been book shopping quite fervently on ebay for the past week. With this University year very nearly over (just 2 exams to go!) I have already started looking forward to the next. Looking at the book lists from past versions of next years classes I have got a rough idea of what most of the core texts will be, or at least who the core authors are likely to be.

My first ebay purchase from my List was An Unsuitable Job for a Woman by P.D. James, which I devoured in a matter of days (I'm sure it would have been hours but as my exams are, sadly, not quite over I cannot yet indulge as much as I want to!). I am now eagerly waiting for three more books by James to be delivered to my door, am bidding on two more, and am watching (in the hope that money will magically appear in my bank in the next few days) another three.

Whilst waiting for the goodies to arrive I picked up one of the many Agatha Christie (do you see a theme here?...lots and lots of crime :)) novels from my shelf and am already half way through it, leaving aside my new (well, to me anyway) copies of the plays of Moliere and Euripides to satisfy my need for a good old murder.

I am looking forward to bed time now; I think I shall make it early so I have more time to read. I think perhaps I should not have started researching texts for third year Detective Fiction until after my last exam...
