Open Mic Night
Tuesday evenings used to find us often at Scott's Open Mic Night. This current school year we've not managed to meet our friends, Scott & Peg, at this musical gathering nearly enough. Celebrating with them last Friday evening at Hollywood Bowl, reminded us just how much music is part of our foursome. So we decided to attend Open Mic tonight.
At the moment the hour is quite late -- nearing 1:00 a.m. here on the West Coast. This is not the best of photos; it was, though, a grand evening of being with a bunch of people who all enjoy spending every Tuesday evening together.
This is just the third week for Open Mic to be back at Main Street Restaurant in Yorba Linda. Years ago it was held here; then the restaurant was sold, so Scott found another place, Java Joe's, to have the event. Recently Java Joe's was sold and the new owner was not very friendly toward this musical event. The original owner of Main Street Restaurant has purchased back the restaurant when the new owner didn't make a successful go of running the place, and to make a long story short, we are thrilled to be back at this "new" old location, which is truly a dinner place and not just a coffee house.
This evening lots of musicians played; however the grand ingredient of the evening was that everyone had quietly planned together to surprise Annie and celebrate her graduation from California State University at Fullerton. So the women decorated the place and brought noise makers, made lapel pins, put wrapped candy at each table, and served the most delicious graduation cake and two different varieties of brownies. It was certainly more food than the two of us needed after having a delicious Mexican meal. Annie was so surprised and honored by it all.
We were both so glad to be back at Open Mic after our long absence.
Thanks everyone for all the comments on my beach photo yesterday. My next entry will be for my blip-birthday. I better conclude this so I can get to bed. Then I'll figure what to do to celebrate the occasion.
Good night at this late, late hour from Southern California.
