Tri-colored heron

We continued our journey to Sanibel Island Florida, arriving around 3.30pm. Sanibel is located on the Gulf side, off the mainland from Fort Myers. We have been a couple of times before, but the last time was about ten years ago! We are renting a condo near the western end of the island where it is linked by a bridge to Captiva Island. Having been cooped up in the car for the best part of two days, we were eager to get down to the beach and take a dip in the ocean. The condo complex isnt actually on the beach, but it is only a short walk across a bridge over the lagoon, and across a short stretch of dune-type vegetation. We stayed there for a couple of hours until we received a call from Jen and Jason on our cell phone to let us know that they had arrived, so we returned to let them in. I took this picture as we were crossing the lagoon on our way back. I believe I'm correct in my identification, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. After getting Jen and Jason unpacked and settled in, we went out for dinner, then came back and played board games.
