May 17th - The Norwegian National Holiday!

This is a J. a very good friend of Erik's,... It is easy to see that he is enjoying Norway's birthday :D

The 17th of May is a BIG holiday in Norway. Among children, it ranks right up there with Christmas and birthdays. The lovely thing about this celebration is that it is very focused on children and making it a fun day for them. There are parades, lots and lots of hot dogs and ice cream....and flags!! There are Norwegian flags everywhere!

I would have liked to have gotten a photo of downtown with all the thousands of people, the parade, the flags but I am just terrible about photographing when I am also part of the action :) I need to be a bit on my own and have some time. Today was full go the entire day, and although I took photos, there were very few good ones that show what it is like here on the 17th. Luckily I did grab this shot of J., I like it because it shows how much fun kids have on the 17th....and because you can also see a number of Norwegian flags in the background.

It has been a great day BUT exhausting, and Im ready for bed!
