Please take us out!
I hate Sundays! There I said it. I have always hated Sundays. Don't know why. Even as a nipper I hated Sundays, they were boring long days beginning with Sunday mass usually at 10 which is way too early to start a Sunday. then home to my grandparents if I was staying with them and as they were old they usually slept their Sundays away till it was time to milk the cows in the evening.
Sometimes folks came for a visit but mostly they were boring.
As an older nipper Sundays still seemed to remain dull long days. So, today half a century on was still boring! When I was at church the boring priest read a letter from a distant Scottish bishop with a Tally name going on about the Popes visit to Scotland.
What is this Pope thinking of? First he is going to Edinburgh! well thats enough to piss of half the population of Glasgow for a start! then he decided to DRIVE for God's sake along the M8 to Glasgow!
Does he no know the M8 is the crappiest motorway in Scotland. What if he gets held up? and I read he is to have an escort of about 200 cars, busses lorries prams etc! Has this man not heard of planes or better still a helicopter and he can just drop into Bellahouston or Ibrox or wherever he is going!
Back to the letter, It went on about the media and journalists and I thought they were going to ask punters to accomodate the hoards of paparazzie!
WRong! they were asking us for money!
Well I think the Catholic church has envegiled enough 5'ps from me over the last half century so I object to being asked by one of the richest firms on the planet to fork out my hard earned cash to help some poxy journalist who is already on a fat expense account spend my hard earned spondulaks!
I remember tha last Pope's visit and indeed my mad pal dragged me to both Hampden and Bellahouston to see him and I remember never wanting to hear a hymn ever again and almost dying from thirst!
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with folks wanting to see the wee man but I do have issues with a church that is rolling in filthy lucre asking me to give them yet more!
Knowing the Vatican they will make a dvd of it and I will buy that instead, in the meantime I will watch it on telly and make dam sure I am nowhere near Centreal Scotland and its gridlock on the day he visits.
May all your God's bless you all blippers
Amen
