Woods Mill, Sussex

Today I was invited to attend an informal debrief at Woods Mill, near Henfield, Sussex, for members of the team that ran in the Brighton Marathon to raise money for the Sussex Wildlife Trust Woods Mill

There we met the charming and enthusiastic Mark Anscombe, our contact at the Trust, and later accompanied him on a stroll around this wonderful nature reserve, in the company of Trust veteran, Bryan Michie. Bryan was one of the SWT team who triumphed in the BBC's Eggheads competition in March 2010, and who who defeated the ex-Mastermind champion and Brain of Britain, Kevin Ashman. The team netted £37,000 for the Trust.

My own contribution, £800 raised mainly through Twitter friends and relations, was modest by comparison, but I am glad I was able to help this great organization.

We enjoyed a pleasant stroll, listening to nightingales singing and wandering through the spectacular bluebell woods.
