Wayside
The Wayside Whittler at work with his trusty Swiss Army penknife.
On my daily walks along the Water of Leith Walkway, here in the suburbs of Edinburgh, I often whittle walking sticks, like this one, as I walk.
As a Conservation Trust Volunteer, among other things I do, I trim back overhanging branches along the Walkway, which gives me access to sticks suitable for making into walking sticks.
Tke double helix, as in DNA, is the basis for the spiral carvings on my sticks, as shown here.
