Gum tree and oval

While out helping to look for a dog, belonging to one of my neighbours, the base of this gum tree caught my eye.

It stands here adjacent to the oval, on the flood water retarding basin, at the end of my "road". That's in quotation marks, because for most of it's length, there is only room for one car. We locals are used to it, but others are often disturbed by this.
