In Loving Memory
... which is in fact what cemeteries are all about. But then we all move on, and get busier. As is modern (and probably not so modern) life.
It's been an interesting week, and completely unrelated Adam asked me how I'd like to die. "Gunshot (?) or a heart attack". Ahhhh, heart attack Adam, as long as I am neck deep in powder and howling with excitement. "Sorry Dad, no, just a normal heart attack." Ahh, not sure Adam, I'd rather not be shot though ... How about an avalanche, neck deep in powder. "No, sorry only heart attack or gun shot". Why? Who knows!
I've been lucky in that I?ve not had many close relatives or friends die, really my grandfather and mother on one side of the family. We talk about them a bit, but not enough.
Interesting thoughts you have when you spend a week in a cemetery. I'm tempted to go back again next week ... It's been a good series, but I could have done better. And I suspect people aren't so comfortable with the concept, but that's OK as I think photography should challenge you (in the taking and interpretation). And, as long as I like them .... ;-)
p.s I admit to a fascination in the symmetry of the graves with the surroundings - fences, trees etc. And I just love the detail.
