Proud parents

Five years ago our youngest daughter, Alison, decided to return to college and earn a degree in nursing. With the support of her husband and two children, she has worked hard to get where she is today. She already had an undergraduate degree in communication, but to enter nursing school she needed to complete two years of various science courses and other prerequisites, a challenge in which she was helped by her sister Becky, a high school chemistry teacher. Her last three years were spent in the nursing program at Cleveland State University, where she had opportunities to experience hospital work at several area hospitals, including the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Tonight Bob and I were thrilled to go with them to the pinning ceremony, where the 66 newly-minted nurses received their nursing pins, a tradition that began in 1889, signifying that they are graduate nurses. As parents of a hard-working and determined BSN graduate, we couldn't have been more proud.
