Happy Birthday Dad.

These are photos of my Dad, taken in the 1930s, sent to me by the family of his friend - he would have been 89 today.

He sailed on the Firth of Forth all his life, won many races - a hated Saturday chore for us was to clean all the silver trophies he'd won! - sailed the Duke of Edinburgh's yacht, Bluebottle, in the 50s as a guest helmsman, joined the navy when he was 18 at the outbreak of WW2, was blown up when his minesweeper hit a mine, was passionate about sailing.....he was a loving though sometimes strict Dad & in retirement he was a fantastic, fun grandad to six grandchildren.
He's with me when I need him to be but it's not the same...
