DIY metaphor

Look, I'll be honest, I only snapped some steps down to Marsden Grotto, but I thought the image might as well do a bit of multi-tasking due to the colours. (Actually, yesterday's could do the same job.) So - please insert your metaphor here. It could be "Hopeful steps for the politicians" or perhaps " A crooked descent to dangerous depths". Let's just be grateful that it was all done without shouting or guns!
