RUN!
Do you have to be VERY angry to use a cross trainer?
I feel better - and in celebration, I went for an hour at the gym to torture myself. Needs must when the devil vomits in your kettle. I have to do something to get rid of the wobbly a**e and prevent the early onset of the Granny's favourite - Bingo Wings. Have been a lazy so and so since 19th January apparently, having not managed to squeeze a training session in since then. Can't remember - think I might have been a bit busy with something running up to April and since then, frankly, I couldn't find my gym mojo.
Today, triggered by a series of bewildering situations and frustrating moments, my adrenalin kicked in and after sitting for an hour in traffic this evening I knew the only way to get rid of it all was to exercise. Yes, I know there are alternatives before anyone wants to comment. That's for later!
Teenage boys, suddenly all jump out of their seats and crowd round one lad's computer. "Lads, I know your up to something. I'm not daft - i HAVE been teaching for longer than you've been alive, so I know when you are up to something". Lots of muttering and shuffling back to seats with cries of "but we weren't doing anything"...I know your game...!!! Sometimes, boys and girls, it is better to
a. Keep your mouth closed - say nothing, it's better that way
b. Realise when your game is up and accept defeat gracefully.
I'm not sure whether those two statements apply to me, or to the children. In my world, they can be applied to a broad audience.
Did you know that standards in schools have fallen for the past ten years, the state sector is filled with schools with no discipline at all, and apparently, the best teachers only teach in private schools. I'm so glad that I know that now - I will, along with many of my colleagues, sleep well tonight knowing that sweeping generalisations are 'de rigeur' in political circles - I bet that has slipped under the radar for a lot of people. As a professional, I feel so valued!Mind you, it's all about the holidays and the free time isn't it? Cushty life this teaching lark!
Thank you for all of your lovely comments about "Dream" last night. The concept of a large erection on a hillside has caused much mirth amongst some of my colleagues (well, Gadgetboy actually) today.
