The Mask of Apollo

A friend of mine lent me this book, she was astonished I had not read any by Mary Renault. I think most of her books are out of print now, though one has recently been nominated for the 'Lost Booker'. (I voted for that I wonder what has happened?)

I loved the book, not for its story but for the amazing descriptions of the technicalities of ancient Greek theatre. My friend was very eager to know what I thought of the book and kept asking me if I had finished it. I had not, so she stopped asking, there was no need to rush to the end to find out what was happenning - it was not that sort of book.

Recently I blipped a pile of books I intended to take on holiday - I have just begun to read the first. I will post a review of each book as I blip the ever decreasing pile
