I'll swing you...
I forgot to blip yesterday. It was a bit hectic and driving 5+ hours and having to set up camp in the dark makes me flaky. Lots of things make me flaky though.
Anyway, today officially began our adventure in Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee. We left our regular campsite and car behind and ventured into the woods for a nice overnight hike in the area. The trail is well established with primitive campsites on the trail for you to stay the night. It's a novelty to have a set destination on trips like this instead of debating the best stopping point as the sun starts setting.
This trail is a killer, it says so everywhere and we were expecting the labor intensive climb down a ravine and then back up. What we didn't expect was the crazy allergy attack that consumed me. Never have I had allergies as bad as this. Pollen surrounded me and made me pretty damn miserable. I would walk two minutes, stop for one to blow my nose, walk two minutes, stop, etc. etc.
We made it to the campsite and after dinner I pretty much just passed out in the tent while the sky was still blue and beautiful.
One of the most novel parts of the trail were the number of swinging suspension bridges like this. The trail looped around a ravine and crossed its many rivers several time. Each time an exciting bridge like this left us cruise right over. It helps that the Man hates heights and I could torture him a bit (like always, haha).
Only one of the bridges had a posted weight limit which was a bit worrisome. Does that same weight limit apply to all the bridges or just the one?
