Footballers?

We were walking through town (on our way to watch Four Lions at the Electric) and suddenly the police came out of nowhere and started shouting very confusing instructions to the cars in the road. Everyone froze. No-one knew what they were saying, or why. A poor lady in her car at the junction practically burst into tears as the police officer shouted (unnecessarily I thought) "MOVE! NOW!!" repeatedly at her.

All this fuss appeared to be to clear the way for a coach full of footballers, but who it was, we couldn't tell.

This is the second time I've seen police being used for perhaps less than useful purposes in the last couple of weeks. I would really like to see a breakdown of where exactly our tax £ go when it comes to the police force ...
