Over the Horizon

Jungle meets sea and it was love at first site....

This is where the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta marchs off beyond the waves and is swallowed up by the sea. The jungle hills taper off all the way to the beach leaving behind huge wind sculpted boulders lying as if washed up in the surf. A salt haze hangs in the warm air and palm trees rustle like wind chimes to the rythmic pounding of the Caribbean here. Having a beach like this to yourself feels magical, far away and forgotten. Tinged with an air of discovery.

Back only one day from the jungle and I find myself already outside again. Darren, Babuette, and I are hiking into a place called Cabo San Lucas to camp the night on the beaches of Parque Nacional Tayrona. This is the coastal limit of the Sierra Nevada whence we came and for me the logical end point for our journey from the jungle mountains to the sea.
