Mama Killdeer

I took a chance to see if I could get a bit closer to the mama today. I figured out the trick. I got a bit closer to her nest than I usually do and sat down. Once I stopped walking towards it she started moving back towards it. I was able to get a little closer shot than the last few days that I have tried. I check her nest every few days to see if any babies have hatched yet. I want a photo of them so bad!! These birds are so fascinating. She even did her injured bird routine to try and distract me from her next. She doesn't know that I would never touch her eggs or disturb the nest so I don't blame her. I was lucky to get this photo since my three year old was with me and she's like a bull in a china shop!
