Life is good!

Where the extraordinary is commonplace?

The Palais des Nations has served as the home for the United Nations Office at Geneva since 1946. Broken Chair, the monumental sculpture in wood by the Swiss artist Daniel Berset, constructed by the carpenter Louis Genève, symbolises opposition to land mines and cluster bombs, and acts as a reminder to all who visit.

Places and names and history that have come alive, previously known to me only through the textbooks; for my lovely daughter, an ordinary sight and experience that elicited this response: "Great scooter surface!" She of course is aware of the importance of such history, but with a much larger perspective. How extraordinary!
