Arbutus Root

Happy Mothers Day! This is the root of a large arbutus (=madrona) tree on Salt Spring Island, at the top of Reginald Hill. It is an amazing tree type, with peeling bark, flowers, contorted limbs, and a warm colour. I think the manzanita bush is also related.
