Poppies, pines and a pooch

After a week of 14 cms (5.5") of rain, finally a day of milky sunshine and the smell of wet dog has diminished. This 57 variety of dog I saw under a bush outside our local bakery at the bottom of the hill. No-one at the bakery had seen him before or knew how he had arrived. When I went to have a close look at him he gave me a very flat stare, but it was a hot day and he looked thirsty. I was on my way to the shops so bought a plastic dog bowl and some bottled water, and on my return he was mighty glad to have a drink. We had another look at each other, he hopped in the car and came home with me. Our vet said that he was about a year old, so he shares my August birthday, and has now been with me for nine years. He has a large fan club locally as he travels in the car with me. The bad part is that he has to go to the hairdresser every two months, as without a haircut he is too ridiculous to be seen with.
