duck
Today was a bit smoggy so we had a nice relaxed brekky and then headed up to the Ming Tombs, which is exactly as it sounds- tombs for the Ming Dynasty emperors. Nothing spectacular but interesting enough.
This evening we went for a proper Beijing roast duck (kaoya), which was great as always. Nothing like the crispy aromatic duck you get in the UK (which I'm told is a British invention), but instead very tasty, very moist slices of duck which you wrap in pancakes with plum sauce, radish, spring onion and cucumber. This restaurants stirs sesame sauce, peanut sauce and roasted garlic in with the plum sauce, which is not only very tasty but also striking to look at. Yum.
