Still light
10:30 pm and it's still light, yet it's not even summer. Love it.
Pretty gutted by last night's election result. The British public are all a bunch of wusses. It was supposed to be the Lib Dems' big night, opinion polls on the day suggesting that they'd win a whole bunch more seats than last time. Instead, it turns out pretty much everybody chickened out at the last minute, and ran back home to mummy and daddy (the big two major parties).
I couldn't believe the exit poll prediction at 10pm, cos we'd had it drummed in for the last two weeks that the Lib Dems would gain big (relatively speaking). Turns out the exit polls were pretty much spot on. It appears to be the one scenario nobody had thought of in the election build-up. Now we're in a bit of a pickle as nobody won a clear enough majority to lead the government confidently.
At least this is surely the catalyst finally reforming a shitty voting system that sees one party get 23% of the popular vote, yet only 8.7% of the seats in the parliament, while another gets 29% of the vote and a whopping 39.7% of the seats!
A purely vindictive bonus is seeing Slimeball Cameron eat some well-deserved humble pie.
