Junk and ghost
I thought I'd post something completely different to yesterday's wee geese. So here's some old metal with a spook emerging from within. I wasn't scared, though.
I headed down to Hoxa in South Ronaldsay and walked from St Margaret's Hope along the road past Commons of Quindry and Inkbottle to Hoxa Head. Saw a few migrants; wheatears, terns and an arctic skua, which is an elegant but piratical bird. A bit like Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island.
A beautiful sunny day. Odd that such good weather doesn't always make for lots of seascapes and landscapes. I may put one or two on Flickr.
There was a large pod of pilot whales, 60-70, reported moving north past Caithness, but I wasn't lucky enough to see any. They're probably much further west.
