Berlin Day 2 : Brandenburg Gate

We'd arranged to meet our music group from last night for lunch today. One of them is a frequent visitor to Berlin and has an apartment close to where ours is, so he has the advantage of local knowledge. We met at Kurfüstendamm and walked from there to a pleasant beer garden beside the Zoo. The food was very reasonably priced and excellent, the weather was bright and sunny, so all in all it was a perfect start to what turned into a great, though busy, day.

Three of us got a bus up towards Alexander Platz, where Carl and I parted company with our companion and made our way gradually back down along Under den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate. There was a real buzz around here, and we were just two among many, many tourists busily soaking up the atmosphere. Another of our group arrived in Berlin today, so we contacted him and arranged to meet him at the Sony Centre at Potsdamer Platz. We'd fully intended getting back to the apartment first, but time caught us out and we went straight over there instead. We were early for our meeting arrangement, but in time to meet two of the others, who were having a bit to eat before going to a Concert in the nearby Philharmonie.

Our third encounter of the day saw us remain in the Sony Centre for an evening meal (again okay but not great), after which we headed back to our own neighbourhood to once again meet the guys from last night after part three of their Wagner marathon. A few drinks in a few locals finished off a hectic day, finishing up in a good-fun spot which offered disco music and the weirdest 'floor show' anyone is ever likely to see.
