The Phoenix Rises

Earlier this year our football club, Chester City FC went bust, we were thrown out of the league and our results for the season expunged. So came to and end 125 years of football in the city.

The last 2/3 years have been a terrible time, I won't even begin to catalogue all that has gone on, and fans have been divided over what was best for their club. A group, City Fans United (CFU), came together with the aim of maintaining a football team in Chester based on a community club. Never again would they let one man own and run the club.

At midnight the local council, which owns the stadium, announced that it had granted a 5 year lease of the stadium to the board of CFU. We now move forward to the next phase which is to have a team ready to play at whatever level of the footballing pyramid the authorities will let us play at. It is both daunting and exciting.

Pride can be restored in a great little club run for the people by the people.
